Two individual frequencies (VHF and UHF) are allocated to each sector allowing the execution of radio transmissions between pilots and the respective radar controller.
Transmitters and Receivers of these frequencies are operated at different locations to cover the whole area of jurisdiction:
Transmitters/Receivers
Goetzenhain (Frankfurt) Neunkirchner Hoehe, Feldberg (Taunus), Haidberg (Nuernberg), Nuernberg Airport, Sandkopf (Hunsrueck), Ruppelstein (Hunsrueck), Gosheim (Stuttgart),
Kochelsberg (Stuttgart), Deister (Hannover), Daebraer Berg (Kulmbach).
Special data lines (Deutschen Telekom) connect Karlsruhe UAC to the above listed transmitters and receivers. The data lines are monitored by computers
installed at our center. In case of malfunction remote lines will be automatically selected for the uninterrupted use of frequencies.
In addition two independent emergency frequency modules are available.
Emergency module 1 uses transmitters 8 NM south of the center, the respective receivers are installed on the roof of the center. The emergency module can be selected by the radar controller immediately.
Emergency module 2 consists of a special transmitter/receiver unit for UHF/VHF using own antennas on the roof of the center.
The fequencies used presently at Rhein Radar are published as follows:
