Sectors

To provide safe, orderly  and expeditious execution of air traffic services the area of responsibility of  Karlsruhe UAC is divided in seven different sectors ("Basic  sectors").

Sectors are defined by  their lateral and vertical boundaries. Each individual sector consists of a radar - and a coordinator position.

On-Route Sectors

The lower sectors include the airspace starting from FL245 (7900m) to FL320 (10560m).

The duties in these sectors are assigned to the working positions E2/C2. They consist of the control of general air traffic (GAT) along published departure and arrival routes and on airways.

The upper sectors include the airspace starting from FL320 (10560m) and higher.

The duties in these sectors are assigned to the working positions E1/C1. They consist of the control of general air traffic (GAT) along published departure and arrival routes and on airways.

Off-Route Sectors

So called "Off-route"-sectors include the airspace starting from FL245 (7900m) and higher within an assigned geographic sector.

The duties in these secotrs are assigned to the working positions E3/C3. They consist of the control of operational air traffic (OAT).
